The island of Anjouan, in the heart of the Indian Ocean.
On the last shores of the world, bodies with black faces burn under the blinding light of the tropics. In a constant and relentless effort, dozens of men dig and amass sand of the same color as ebony. They only have a few hours to do their work, before the beach is swallowed up again by the ocean...
Through a chronicle of a day's work by the sand collectors of the island of Anjouan, "The Beach of the Forgotten" paints a portrait of a small community that fights against nature for its own survival.
