In 1960, when Lucien Pouëdras returned from Algeria, bulldozers had destroyed the landscape of his childhood in the countryside around Lorient. From this traumatic upheaval emerged a body of work that chronicles life in the bocage through the changing seasons. Nearly five hundred paintings in which he depicts himself as a child in the company of his parents, his brothers and sisters, and the neighbours with whom life and work were shared. Lucien Pouëdras, remember the bocage immerses us in the story of what was once a self-sufficient way of life, between hardship and simple joys, in harmony with nature.
